“Pura Vida”
Wow, where to start? How do you review paradise? Heaven on earth? I think the people of Costa Rica “Tico’s” say it best in the phase you will hear over and over “Pura Vida” This was my sixth trip to Costa Rica having fallen in love with the country some 10 years ago. Although I have always understood the meaning of “Pura Vida” to be pure life, it took this trip and a week at Casa de Mono Locos for me to experience it. Whether it was walking out my bedroom to jump in the pool every morning before anyone else was awake, doing a few leisure laps or floating on back in silence or seeing the beautiful flowers and birds everywhere. Maybe it was sitting on a large piece of driftwood on the beach every night watching the sunset over the Pacific without another person besides us in site. I got it !! The natural in this region of Costa Rica is remarkable. I highly recommend a hike in Manual antonio Park. Hiring a guide is the way to go, as you may miss allot. I have never since so many monkeys, iguanas and sloths in all my life. The wildlife around will not disappoint. We also went white water rafting close to Portasol and it was mind blowing. I know you would keep reviews short but I haven’t even mentioned the water fall, the beauty of the house or the staff at Portasol. All of which are great. The house is beautiful. I loved the hand carved rails, custom kitchen and large deck overlooking the rainforest. I wanted to get away and recharge my mind, body and soul and I did. Some of friends stayed plugged in with internet access available, but I choose to turn everything off. No TV ad’s !!! Trust me when I tell you the deadlines, emails, voice messages and to do lists will be there when you get back. You owe it to yourself to experience “Pura Vida” for yourself. I have already booked my next trip. See you next year, my Tico friends and as always “Pura Vida”
“Exhilarating”
The property manager, Alex, met us at the airport and took us to the home, carried our luggage in and made sure we were comfortable. The house is beautiful, with a spacious deck and dipping pool, surrounded by the natural beauty (sights and sounds) of the jungle. We felt very safe because of the 24-hour security guard at the gate. The “wildlife”, however, gave us a few starts! Once we got used to the Jurassic Park sized insects and bullfrogs, we settled in and were very happy. We were close to Dominical beach and not too far from Manuel antonio Park to visit daily. We loved the zipline experience the best. This is a great place to stay if you want to be secluded from the entire world, and yet close enough to go visit places. I would recommend it for those who love nature, or just want to be away from it all!
“Wonderful getaway”
Situated just off the Pacific coast on the edge of the rain forest on the road less traveled is the Casa de Mono Locos if you are looking for remote with all the comforts of home and then some, we found it. Beautiful views of the forest and ocean. Want a get away? you got it!! Alex and the staff of Portosol were great
“Relaxing, Peace and Quiet.”
This is a great place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty that Costa Rica has to offer. The home features two levels with breath taking views of the moutains and Pacific Ocean! If you love surfing, the home is located just minutes away from some of the best surfing spots in Costa Rica. If you’re looking for something to do outside of the house and without driving, there is a beautiful park area with a waterfall located just below the house. It is just a short walk away. I would highly recommend this home to those that are looking to take in the natural beauty of Costa Rica while enjoying the amenities of a hotel at your fingertips.
“Best honeymoon getaway available!!”
Barrett and his staff couldn’t have done a better job at making this home an awesome escape! Every part of this home is perfect and the views are breathtaking! Most days we didn’t even leave the house! It’s a perfect location to get away from all the stress of day to day life, yet close enough if you want to venture into the city for a little busy action. Close to the beach, mountains, and city. It was absolutely amazing watching the sunset from our balcony and enjoying the infinity pool. It was an unique experience being able to enjoy the wildlife without having to leave the house. We also enjoyed being only minutes walking distance from the waterfalls! We would recommend this home to anyone!! Families, couples, groups, etc… anyone looking to escape and enjoy a little peace and quiet. We can’t wait till our next trip!!! Thanks!!
“Very Relaxing”
The house is beautiful , the surroundings serene , but only minutes away from fantastic beaches, and exciting Manuel antonnio . The Staff is superb . Try the waterfall so refreshing!

this is the most beautiful houses and Trankil less than 20 minutes from Playa Manuel antonio, Playa Matapalo 10 minutes and all very close. my friends and I spent a few amazing days in harmony with nature. you can hear the Sounds of the waterfall from the balcony of the house all day you can walk to the waterfall that is less than 5 minutes walk. for which we like to cook is a fully equipped kitchen and good space You can also do the rapids in the river Savegre just a few minutes the best amigos DEL Rioof is the best for rafting my visits to this house will be very often the most relaxing place afternoons at the pool with some cocktails are not the most recommend so if you need a place away from noise and close to all attractions of the area this is the place

Stunning, serene housing with many opportunities for adventure.
Our stay at Casa Monos Locos was simply breathtaking. My friends and me are serious nature-lovers and we’re just in complete awe with our stay. The beautiful two-story house with three individual bedrooms left no wish open. A pool to overlook the tropical rainforest, a huge sun deck which was perfect for our afternoon Yoga class, a BBQ area, a fully equipped kitchen and many common spaces to get together.

Totally magical. Imagine seeing a mist over the tops of trees in the distance and discovering it was actually clouds.
Beautiful jungle, clean air (mind you there is a lot of that in Costa Rica), friendly neighbours who welcome you as part of the family, gorgeous river with pools, and views of the ocean in the not-too-far distance. All of this and more.

¡Mi esposo y yo nos enamoramos del lugar! Mucha naturaleza y excelente trato por parte del staff del hotel. ¡El desayuno es delicioso! El pueblo de Matapalo está muy cerca y la playa también, así que hay opción de disfrutar de la montaña y cerquita está la playa. Esperamos volver y disfrutar de un atardecer desde el mirador.
